Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a practice stemming from Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the insertion of thin needles at various trigger points on the body to treat specific health issues. It is a minimally invasive treatment to target pain, optimal organ function, mental health, and overall wellness. Acupuncture treatments are holistic, usually enhanced with heat therapy and mind-body-environment assessments.

At Nest Integrative Wellness, our Registered Acupuncturist Candace can treat any and all ailments from muscle pain, to stress/anxiety/depression, to optimizing organ function. She also has a special interest in working with perinatal families who are trying to conceive, are pregnant, or have given birth.

Candace includes other modalities in her regular acupuncture treatments including cupping, auricular acupuncture, gua sha, and tui na massage. You can also book separate cupping sessions with her.

How can acupuncture support your perinatal health and wellness?

Fertility: Acupuncture can be an effective treatment to help those trying to conceive by encouraging the regulation of the more and less desirable hormones that influence fertility. Acupuncture treatments can be used in tandem with fertility treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in-vitro fertilization (IVF) to enhance the chances of conceiving.

Pregnancy: Acupuncture can be used to address many things in pregnancy, including:

    • Morning sickness/ nausea
    • Aches and pains
    • Mental health
    • Positioning of babies from breech or transverse
    • Encouraging labour to start (induction)

Postpartum: Acupuncture can be a useful postpartum wellness tool to address:

    • Recovery from childbirth
    • Lactation
    • Mental health
    • Hormonal balance
    • Menstruation
    • Digestion
    • Fertility to conceive again
